Are your Cardholder contact details up-to-date?

We’re updating the way we authenticate online card payments by adding an additional layer of security to protect your business and help fight fraud – this is called Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).

It’s important that we hold the correct mobile phone number for all Cardholders on your card account. Without this information, transactions may be declined, as we won’t be able to send a One-Time Passcode (OTP) to the Cardholder’s mobile phone to authenticate online payments.

What you need to do now

Please can you make sure all Cardholders check and update their mobile phone number by calling us on 03455 873 874* (for security and fraud prevention reasons, we’ll need to speak directly with the Cardholder whose details we’re updating).

* We’re open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm. We may monitor and/or record your calls for security and service improvement purposes. If you’re calling from outside the UK please dial +44 1226 260 876. Card spending controls

Manage and control spending on all your Commercial Cards by adding single transaction limits, and restricting certain merchant channels (Grocery, DIY stores) or transactions (ATMs, online, international).


Controls can only be applied by Primary Users on our Business Internet Banking desktop website. Once logged in, simply go to: Account services > Card spending controls, and select the card you want to amend.

Managing expenses:

With online banking and monthly paper statements, you can keep track of your transactions at all times. Separate your business and personal spending for quick and easy accounting.

No annual fee for the first year:

This also applies to additional cards issued for employees. Annual fee after the first year is only £32 per card.

Monthly repayment by Direct Debit:

Choose to pay either the full or minimum balance, and switch between the two options at any time. You can also make additional repayments to avoid or reduce any interest paid, or increase the available credit.

Purchases & Cash Advances

  • Monthly Rate : 1.238%

Interest free period
Up to 56 days (38 days if you pay in full each month by Direct Debit) on Purchases and Cash Advances if you pay your whole balance in full and on time.
Interest charging Information

You will not pay interest on new purchases if you pay your balance in full and on time. Otherwise the period over which interest is charged will be:

  • Purchases & Cash Advances
    • From Date debited to your account
    • Until Paid in full
Allocation of payments

If the amount you pay in a month is less than the full amount you owe, we will apply the amount you pay in the following order:

  1. any unpaid arrears or amounts over the credit limit;
  2. the amount you owe us and shown in your statement;
  3. any transactions, interest or charges not yet included in a statement.

We will apply your payment first to amounts on your account which we charge at the highest interest rate followed by amounts we charged at lower rates. In each case, interest and charges are paid off first.

If some amounts are charged at the same interest rate, we will apply your payment to the oldest amounts first.

Minimum payment

The minimum monthly payment will be the higher of either £5 or the sum of:

  1. 1.5% of the total value of your purchases plus
  2. any interest for the period from the last statement plus
  3. any fees and charges

We recommend that you pay more than the minimum repayment wherever possible. If you make only the minimum repayment each month, it will take you longer and cost you more to clear your balance.

Please tell us when you’re travelling

We automatically monitor your card for unusual non-sterling transactions, so to reduce the chance of us declining a business transaction while you are abroad, please call us on 03457 60 60 60 to let us know you’re travelling before you set off.

Fees

No annual fee for the first year.
After the initial 12 month period, the annual fee for each Commercial Card is only £32.
