Are your Cardholder contact details up-to-date?

We’re updating the way we authenticate online card payments by adding an additional layer of security to protect your business and help fight fraud – this is called Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).

It’s important that we hold the correct mobile phone number for all Cardholders on your card account. Without this information, transactions may be declined, as we won’t be able to send a One-Time Passcode (OTP) to the Cardholder’s mobile phone to authenticate online payments.

What you need to do now

Please can you make sure all Cardholders check and update their mobile phone number by calling us on 03455 873 874* (for security and fraud prevention reasons, we’ll need to speak directly with the Cardholder whose details we’re updating).

* We’re open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm. We may monitor and/or record your calls for security and service improvement purposes. If you’re calling from outside the UK please dial +44 1226 260 876. A flexible credit limit which you can tailor to suit the changing needs of your business as it evolves*, with up to 56 days' interest-free credit to boost your cash flow.

Card spending controls

Manage and control spending on all your Commercial Cards by adding single transaction limits, and restricting certain merchant channels (Grocery, DIY stores) or transactions (ATMs, online, international).

Controls can only be applied by Primary Users on our Business Internet Banking desktop website. Once logged in, simply go to: Account services > Card spending controls, and select the card you want to amend.

Managing expenses:

With online banking and monthly paper statements, you can keep track of your transactions at all times. Separate your business and personal spending for quick and easy accounting.

No annual fee for the first year:

This also applies to additional cards issued for employees. Annual fee after the first year is only £32 per card.

Monthly repayment by Direct Debit:

Choose to pay either the full or minimum balance, and switch between the two options at any time. You can also make additional repayments to avoid or reduce any interest paid, or increase the available credit.

Purchases & Cash Advances

Interest free period
Up to 56 days (38 days if you pay in full each month by Direct Debit) on Purchases and Cash Advances if you pay your whole balance in full and on time.
Interest charging Information

You won’t pay interest on new purchases if you pay your balance in full and on time. Otherwise the period over which interest is charged will be as follows.

  • Purchases & Cash Advances
    • From Date debited to your account
    • Until Paid in full
Allocation of payments

When we receive a payment from you that doesn’t pay off everything you owe on your account, we’ll allocate it as follows:

  1. We’ll reduce any overdue minimum payments (we call these arrears) and any amount you owe above your credit limit.
  2. We’ll pay amounts you owe us which were shown on the last statement.
  3. If you pay us enough to pay everything on your last statement, we’ll then pay off transactions that haven’t appeared on a statement.
Minimum repayment

Your minimum payment will be the total of the following (rounded up to the nearest pound):

  1. interest for the period since the last statement;
  2. any fees and charges added since your last statement; and
  3. 1.5% of the remaining statement balance (not including interest and charges).

But there is a minimum payment of £5, or the full balance if this is less than £5.

We recommend that you pay more than the minimum repayment wherever possible. If you make only the minimum repayment each month, it’ll take you longer and cost you more to clear your balance.
