The spread of COVID-19 is causing significant disruption for businesses across the country.

In these uncertain times, we want to help you face the challenges as they arise and make your everyday banking as straightforward as possible.

Financial support

Beyond everyday banking, we’re also taking measures to help you through these uncertain times. We've recently announced a package of support for businesses that may be impacted by COVID-19.

For business customers, we are:

  • allocating £5bn to help businesses that need support
  • asking relationship managers to proactively contact customers to see what help their businesses need
  • increasing the contactless card limit in coordination with other financial services companies to help you avoid cash transactions and maintain social distancing, you'll now be able to make contactless payments up to the value of £45. Retailers will be updating their ‘point of sale’ terminals over the coming weeks to accept this new limit.
  • launching a helpline to support any customer queries (0800 0121 614, open 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday)

In addition, we will also consider:

  • Offering repayment holidays to free up cash within businesses
  • Reviewing overdrafts or trade loans to allow stock to be held for longer**
  • Providing trade finance solutions to support customers with their supply chains.

Support for UK firms trading internationally

We know that businesses across the UK are facing supply chain disruption, with delays in receiving both goods and payments, leaving many with a gap in their working capital cycle.

To cover this short-term gap, we are offering:

  • £3bn lending to importers and exporters that need additional support*
  • pre-approved 60-day extensions on trade loans for customers with a sound trade loan/financing record**
  • fast turnaround on the issuance of Shipping Guarantees, enabling customers to transfer or receive goods from their counterparty faster
  • a dedicated helpline that connects directly with trade finance specialists (0800 783 1300, open 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday), in addition to the support being offered by relationship managers
