Jake & Nayns: A recipe for growth

  • Article

How brothers Jake and Naynesh turned family recipes into a food brand bringing people together

For brothers Jake and Naynesh Karia, food has always been about more than what’s on the plate. Looking back at how far they’ve come, they reflect on their father arriving in Britain with £50 and a determination to build a better future for his family. Carrying those same values forward and inspired by their mother’s home-cooked dishes, they launched Food Attraction in 1998, before bringing those same bold flavours to the on-the-go market with their sub-brand, Jake & Nayns

“Just as our recipes have been passed down through our family, so have the values that shape our business,” explains Jake. “The same sense of trust, care and togetherness that goes into every recipe is embedded in how we operate. That strong family and team culture has been a big part of our success and continues to shape the business today.”

The Jake and Nayns story

Based in the East Midlands, Jake & Nayns was created to solve a challenge: bringing a range of global cuisines into handheld format. “No one was really making these authentic dishes successfully,” says Nayns. “A lot of market research and testing goes into creating the perfect tastes and textures and I think we were among the people bold enough to have a go.”

How HSBC helped

As demand grew, so did their ambition. Expanding into the on-the-go market meant finding a banking partner that understood the business.

HSBC really took the time to get to know us as a business and then were instrumental in helping us scale, says Jake. From helping fund our factory expansion to supporting our wider growth goals, we wouldn’t be where we are today without HSBC.

How Jake and Nayns has grown

Today, Jake & Nayns products, including its loaded naan breads, are sold in many stores, while the business continues to achieve growth.

In a crowded food industry, Jake & Nayns stands out by staying true to where it all began. Generations of family recipes, a heritage of sharing food and a culture built on trust and togetherness continue to shape the business, bringing authentic flavours to new customers while keeping family at the heart of everything they do.
