What Call Status looks like

We’re Calling You
Most of our teams are able to use this feature. If HSBC is calling you, ‘Call Status’ will tell you this and show the name of the caller, so you can be sure you’re talking to the right person.
Don’t give this name to anyone, especially the caller.

Important fraud prevention tips
- The Call Status feature can help you differentiate between a fraudulent HSBC call and a genuine one. However, you should always be alert to fraud and scams and do your own checks.
- We’ll never tell you not to trust the Call Status feature, but fraudsters will.
- Most of our teams are able to use this feature, but you may receive a call from someone claiming to be from HSBC where Call Status can’t check the call. If this happens, be cautious and follow the guidance in this section. Remember, if you’re in doubt, hang up and call HSBC using a trusted number.
- HSBC will never ask you to download remote access software, provide remote access of your device, disclose full passwords, PINs or provide personal details such as your card/account details or complete address.
- Remember, we’ll never ask you to disclose security codes generated on your security device,
- If you’re suspicious of a call, or Call Status displays an error message, you should hang up and call HSBC using a trusted number.
- If you decide to call us back, wait a minute after hanging up to make sure the line is clear or use a different handset when calling. Remember to call back using a trusted number, such as the one on the back of your card.
