1 Free banking means no account maintenance fee and free standard transactions on your primary account, any additional or secondary accounts will be charged in line with your choice of Small Business Tariff or Electronic Banking Tariff.

2 Representative example: based on an assumed limit of £1,200, 15.9% rate p.a. for purchases, 22% APR representative variable. Annual Fee £32.

After the initial 12 month period, the annual fee for each Commercial Card is only £32. Commercial Cards are available for you and your employees (subject to status).

3 Arranged overdraft available subject to status and application.

4 After 18 months, account maintenance fee will be £6.50 a month and you’ll be able to pay in up to £3,000 cash per month free (we’ll charge 0.50% of the value of cash paid in over this limit) and all other standard transactions will continue to be free.

As one of the few banks offering Bounce Back Loans to businesses that aren’t our customers, we’ve been inundated with requests to open new accounts.

At the moment, we are unable to accept new account applications. If you signed up to the waitlist, you will be contacted via email shortly.

If you are a sole trader or and single director you can still open an HSBC Kinetic Account if you have a compatible device, are eligible and this account meets your business needs.

Am I eligible?

Business Banking customers are determined by customer needs, agreed at the start of their banking relationship with us. They’re typically businesses and not for profit customers with an annual turnover of up to £10m. If your turnover is above £10m, please visit out Corporate Bank Account page.

If your business already has an account with a different bank, you should use our Switcher account.

What details do I need to apply?

To apply you’ll need

Business details:

  • full business address, including postcode
  • contact details (landline number, mobile number, email address)
  • Companies House registration number (for limited companies and partnerships)
  • your estimated turnover

Personal details from you, plus any partners or directors:

  • full name and date of birth
  • telephone number and email address
  • current personal address (and previous address if you’ve been there under 3 years)
  • account number (if you already bank with us)
  • details of your debit/credit cards

After you submit your application, we will try to identify you online. If we're unable to identify you, we'll ask you to provide some proof of your identity and address. You can either do this ia a smartphone or webcam, or by taking the documents to your nearest branch.

What if I’m an existing personal customer?

Even if you’re an existing customer, you’ll have to re-enter your details. For privacy reasons we can’t reuse the details from your personal account.

Can I start an application online and continue in branch?

Can I open an account with multiple signatories?

Yes. You need to be able to provide details of other applicants, such as additional directors and shareholders, as part of the online application process.

To add another signatory after your account has been opened, please complete a secure online form: Request to Add or Remove Signatories from an Existing Mandate. After you’ve submitted your online form, you simply need to download and print a copy, follow the signing instructions and return the signed form via the freepost address provided.

Can I check the progress of my application?

Yes. Once your application has been saved, we send you an email with your application reference number. You’ll need it to log back in.
