What is HSBC Global Wallet?

A new multi-currency account for flexible international transacting 24/7 alongside everyday banking in our award-winning HSBCnet platform.

HSBC Global Wallet is like having a bank account in other countries and territories, and allows businesses to pay and get paid ‘like a local’.

It allows our customers to hold, manage, receive and pay in a range of currencies using local addressing information in the destination currency and country.

Where is it available?

It is currently live in the UK on HSBCnet as well as for Business Banking customers in Singapore and the US.

Who is eligible for HSBC Global Wallet?

Businesses with a turnover of £6.5million or more.

How does it work?

With HSBC Global Wallet, funds are managed through local clearing, often allowing same day payments.

Customers simply top up their chosen currency wallet accounts from their account in HSBCnet, enter payee details and they’re ready to pay like a local in the following currencies:

  • Canadian Dollars
  • Chinese Yuan
  • Euros
  • Hong Kong Dollars
  • Japanese Yen
  • Malaysian Ringgit

Will HSBC stop offering alternative products for cross-border payments?

No, our customers can still use Priority Payments from their current account.

Why are some currencies available and others aren’t?

We wanted to release a fantastic product as soon as possible and then enhance it rapidly. We’ve added four new currencies since launch in May and more will be offered through HSBC Global Wallet in the coming months.

Can I access HSBC Global Wallet via mobile?

Yes, you can view and authorise payments from HSBC Global Wallet on HSBCnet Mobile App, in line with your user entitlements.
