Managing risk Articles
In recognition of the sector’s important political status, our Housing team was established in 2015. We facilitate funding both in the form of balance sheet debt and via the capital markets, where we have strong credentials. We also partner with third-party banks and the Government’s Homes & Communities Agency to provide funding solutions.
Working closely with colleagues in the wider HSBC Group, we provide investment banking and M&A coverage, raise debt and capital, and service inward investment from the Middle East and Asia. Our national team works across the sub-sectors of strategic land; housebuilding and build-to-sell; social housing; private rented sector and build-to-let; purpose-built student housing; and retirement housing.
Hugh has worked for HSBC for more than 35 years, primarily as a relationship manager in Real Estate (Large Corporate). He also has broad experience within Credit & Risk.
His current role as Head of Housing ensures dedicated support for the Corporate Real Estate team and in turn, house builders, Housing Associations, private rental and student accommodation providers across the UK.
